A big thank you

Hi Lynette and Leslie,

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to both of you. It is a wonderful program and I learn a lot although some I master very well and some don't. It has been a wonderful learning curve for me. Many Thanks again.

Ebooks and Audiobooks

I am not sure whether I really want to read a novel on screen however I listen to many audiobooks. I really think the Gutenberg Project is a wonderful idea. I salute to those who volunteer to read those books. It is so nice to be able to download audiobooks and listen to them. I think libraries or SLT should take advantage of this service espeically Home Library patrons.

Second Life

I can see how Second Life being used in University learning in the future especially for distance learning. The interactive side of Second Life will definitely help some students to learn easier. I think like any other learning mediums or tools it depends on the student. Some students learn better if they can interact with tutors, lecturers and other students, some learn better from books or notes. I had the first hand experience of being a distance students and it was so hard, it was especially not being able to interact with tutors and other students instantly. I think we need to embrace new technologies, some work and some don't.

YouTube

YouTube is great in a way however it takes time and patience to weed out the unuseful ones. I have chosen Paper Origami Lessons : Origami crane because even though I have bought the papers with instruction I have trouble following it especailly the instruction is in Japanese. I think YouTube is useful in demonstration and presentation.

Podcast

I like the idea of being able to listen to podcasting in your own home or office at your own pace, however there are too many different technologies for us to choose and use. It is overwhelming. I feel swamped.
