Google Book search

I am not sure whether Google is going to be the new Microsoft or not. However I really like iGoogle.

As of Google book search, I think it is useful to students cause it has the popular passages and reviews for classic novels. For non fictions it is useful to be able to read the contents page to see whether it is what you want before placing hold. The reviews given can help to determine whether the book worth purchasing. Other books written by the same authors is also listed which will assist in acquisition and help librarians answer queries especially if patrons want to know the series or sequel.

Google Maps and Google Earth

I wish I knew I could get directions from Google Maps before, it would have saved me driving in circles like a mad woman many times.

As of Google Earth I found the locations given usually is a bit off, and tonight is no exception. The house that Google Earth found was actually my neighbour's house. However it is still very close if you know which house is yours. I am concern what if people don't know, say for example, got the wrong target for something. Just some nasty thought, do excuse me.

Google Docs

I never knew there is such a wonderful free and easy to use tool. How handy and convenient. I've learnt so much from this program - Learning 2.0. I am so glad that I've joined.

Facebook

I have used MSN Messenger to communicate with my 2 boys and friends for years and found it very useful, especially when my younger son was home I could just msn him and told him to come up for dinner. As of Facebook I am very new to it however I found my 2 boys and some other people that I might know. It is quite an experience. I like the idea that it can link you to your present and old school, alumni and workplaces as well as catching up with friends around the world.

MySpace

I think libraries can use MySpace to reach out to older library users such as parents and people who are 50+. I am working on a project to send out monthly news and bulletins to people who are 50+ MySpace would be a good next step up.

RSS feeds

I am a greedy person I have subscribed too many feeds, don't know when I have time to sit down and read them, they started to pile up. Fortunately some of them don't have daily feeds.
